The Belgian chef, Axel Janssens landed in Tanzania shortly after the turn of the century. And after transforming Onsea House, his cousin’s guesthouse in Arusha into a local hotspot and luxury resort, it wasn’t long before his reputation preceded him everywhere he went. And it wasn’t long before he was asked to follow, flown in to the most exotic locations to cook on site on luxury safaris and subsequently earning his moniker, “The Flying Chef.” These days, he is more of a driving chef and with his fully-equipped food truck, Axel Janssens Signature Catering can be found serving up bespoke culinary extravaganzas at exclusive events in utterly unique surroundings. All fuelled by a passion that literally knows no bounds.
